The best-selling book Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney provides an entertaining context for this hands-on, 4-session summer course.  Through discussion of the experiences and misadventures of Greg Heffley and his friends, students will learn to use their laptops as tools to strengthen academic and organizational skills.

Sean Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens provides an opportunity to learn about adolescence.  Through discussion of events in the novel and humorous anecdotes about high school students, participants will learn about these habits and how they can be applied to improve outcomes in school, at home and in life.

If you are interested in participating in an October workshop
on the 10th, 17th and 24th from 10-12:30, please contact Dan Leibowitz.

Students will learn to:

  • Use Inspiration Software, Webspiration, and word processing features to gather and organize information, plan writing, and take notes
  • Learn how Google Docs, Calendar, iGoogle and other free tools can improve time management and organization
  • Advocate for themselves, communicate with adults in supportive roles, and set goals
"Wow, it looks like those kids are having a lot of fun in there.
It's never to early to learn that stuff!" -G.M., San Francisco
