EdTherapy specializes in training students of all ages to utilize a suite of technology tools in ways that improve their overall approach to learning. Typical goals include:
  Improving organization.
Teaching various learning and study strategies.
  Developing writing skills.
Demonstrating how technology can help learners study "smarter" (vs. harder).

Through a guided, individualized approach, clients learn to use appropriate software tools to meet academic tasks in a more organized, efficient, and independent manner. Typically, this reduces stress and frustration by enabling individuals to function at a level more consistent with their abilities.

Plans typically include one or more of the following technologies:

Inspiration and Kidspiration software: this is especially useful for organizing ideas, breaking down tasks, and structuring the writing process.
Dragon Voice Recognition: quickly and efficiently turns spoken word into text.
TextHelp Read & Write: this easy-to-use customizable toolbar "floats" on the screen, integrating a variety of reading and study supports into Windows applications, such as Microsoft Word and Explorer.
Kurzweil & WYNN: these screen readers assist learners by speaking text, building decoding skills, and providing many study skills features.
  Books on iPod via Audible.com.

Technology tools are chosen based on the student's unique learning profile. The process begins with an analysis of the student's strengths, weaknesses, and academic history. Based on information from parents, related professionals, and psycho-educational evaluations, specific goals are identified and progress is closely monitored. Developing student autonomy as is always a primary goal.
